Mumakil - Behold The Failure
Some time ago I encountered the Swiss power grindcore band Mumakil through their previous record Customized Warfare. After this release the band has signed to Relapse Records and they now release their first full length effort through this label, entitled Behold The Failure. And it is a fucking monster I can tell you…
The name Mumakil comes from the giant elephant beasts of the Lord of the Rings saga. This band has about the same impact as a herd of these colossuses on the rampage. Behold The Failure features ultra aggressive grindcore like I’ve haven’t heard too often. The band packs so much energy and anger it’s almost impossible to swallow it all in one go. No breathing pauses, just one burst of vicious and furious songs perfectly fit for fans of Nasum, Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Misery Index and Pig Destroyer.
The intensity that these 27 tracks exhale is so fucking ferocious, I just can’t explain it. For me this band is now at the very top of what I’ve heard in grindcore. I haven’t seen them live yet unfortunately, but I’ve heard they achieve the same level of power as they do on their records so it’s bound to make me go crazy. Pick this fucker up if you dig extreme metal music!
